Virus-host interactions

Parvoviruses

Parvoviruses are small, non-enveloped, single-stranded DNA viruses that depend on host cell nuclear transcriptional and replication machinery. Due to the small capsid diameter of 18–26 nm, intact capsids can potentially pass into the nucleus through nuclear pore complexes (NPCs). We have analyzed the nuclear import and egress of canine parvovirus (CPV) capsids, and interactions between the viral nonstructural protein NS1 and cellular proteins.  We are also interested in the cellular distribution of adeno-associated virus-encoded MAAP protein and the persistence of human bocavirus 1.
